Our immediate goal is to raise $15,000 to build the site, secure the domain, cover the first few years of hosting, and set up reliable hard copy offsite and cloud backups.
If we’re fortunate enough to surpass our goal, our next priority is long-term preservation by creating a permanent backup on Forever.com. It’s the only service we found offering permanent storage with a lifetime plus 100-year guarantee, including ongoing file migration as tech changes.
And if we are able to go even further, we’ll accelerate preservation and research, purchasing professional digitization equipment and supporting on-the-ground research overseas in our family’s ancestral towns.
All donations will be listed on a founders wall unless otherwise requested — a leaf for each on The Family Giving Tree, with the words that came with the gift. The amount is never shown; every leaf is the same.
